Choptank Electric Cooperative Celebrates Economic Development Week
Reliable electric and broadband deployment continues to strengthen the communities we serve
Denton, Maryland – Choptank Electric Cooperative is proud to be a member of Maryland’s Economic Development Association (MEDA) and celebrate Economic Development Week in Maryland from October 24 – 28, 2022. Throughout this week, Choptank Electric Cooperative will emphasize the importance of economic development in Maryland and the crucial role electricity and broadband play in the state’s rural communities.
As a cooperative, Choptank Electric exists to provide reliable and cost-effective electricity that improves the quality of life for our member-owners. We are committed to service excellence guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, one of which being Concern for Community. This principle can be achieved in many ways through volunteerism, partnerships, sponsorships, and additional investments.
“In these challenging economic times, Choptank Electric Cooperative continues to invest in the communities we serve to help spur economic growth and opportunities,” says Matthew Teffeau, Government Affairs and Economic Development Manager at Choptank Electric.
Choptank Electric Cooperative increases system reliability and safety by investing in capital projects throughout the year. These projects include upgrading substations and overhead power lines, installing fiber optics in our substations and transformers, and ensuring we have clean and accessible rights-of-way through our vegetation management program.
The Cooperative’s commercial business-members play a vital economic role on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Choptank Electric Cooperative continues to work closely with these members to find cost-effective measures, including economic development grants, fuel-switch capabilities, reliable high-speed internet, and energy saving practices. Serving the Eastern Shore for over 80 years, Choptank Electric Cooperative continues to be a resource to our business community, chambers of commerce, and county economic development offices to provide 21st century services and solutions.
