Choptank Electric Cooperative partnered with the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to perform multiple hotline safety demonstrations. These safety demonstrations train State Highway Administration employees on the dangers of electricity and how to be safe while working near power lines. Tom Simpson, Assistant Manager of Safety, Training & Compliance at Choptank Electric Cooperative, explains the demonstrations, while two of our local linemen from the district in which the demo is held demonstrate using the hotline. We perform these demonstrations to keep everyone safe. Don’t forget, if you’re ever in an accident involving a power line, stay in the vehicle until EMS responders confirm that the line is de-energized.
