Choptank Electric Cooperative’s CEO was Elected for an ODEC Officer Position

DENTON – On July 27, 2020 at Old Dominion Electric Cooperative’s (ODEC) Annual Meeting, ODEC elected Mike Malandro, President and CEO of Choptank Electric Cooperative, as their secretary/treasurer.

ODEC also elected John C. Lee, Jr., president, and CEO of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative, to be chairman of the board and Jeffrey S. Edwards, president and CEO of Southside Electric Cooperative, as vice-chairman. Each of the officers' terms will expire in 2023.

“I am honored and proud to be elected by my peers to serve as secretary/treasurer of the board of directors of ODEC,” said Malandro. “I will serve the board with integrity and serving our member-owners will be my highest priority. We will work as a team to recognize and address the considerable energy challenges that lie ahead while also looking at the differing views and needs of our member-owners.

Malandro added, “I look forward to working with chairman John Lee and vice chairman Jeff Edwards,  our fellow directors, and the highly capable ODEC team, to maintain the cooperative’s status as one of the nation’s most successful generation and transmission cooperatives, and to continue bringing value to those at the end of the line by providing ODEC competent, open-minded leadership that includes vision, creativity, flexibility, and evolving strategic oversight.”

According to Marcus Harris, ODEC president and CEO, “John, Jeff, and Mike bring decades of experience and an intense focus on the needs of the members they serve.  They will provide excellent leadership to ODEC’s board, and I am excited to work with them in their new roles.”
