Manager of Government Affairs Recognized 

Matthew Teffeau is recognized for his impressive track record and achievements. 

Choptank Electric’s Manager of Government Affairs, Matthew Teffeau, was recently selected as part of the Daily Record’s VIP list. The VIP list recognizes Maryland’s leaders who are 40 years old or younger based on their professional accomplishments, community service, and a commitment to inspiring change.
Teffeau, who began with the Co-op on July 1, 2019, is a lifelong Marylander and native of Preston, MD. Teffeau was inspired to pursue politics and advocacy when he visited Washington, D.C. during the 2005 National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour his junior year of high school, which he attended as a Choptank Electric member. After graduating from Salisbury University in 2010, he worked for Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant, and later joined the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Teffeau is a 2017 graduate from the LEAD Maryland program. Most recently, he collaborated with the executive team at Choptank Electric and local officials to advocate and pass HB 999, “The Rural Broadband for the Eastern Shore Act of 2020, ”which will enable the Co-op to pursue broadband through member regulation. 
“I am here to make a difference, and Choptank Electric empowers me to do just that,” said Teffeau.
